The poem that made me thirsty.

Years ago a friend sent me the above poem by Hafiz. It tells of a fish who finds itself so out of water that it is riding around the desert on a camel. At that point in my life, I could relate. I had not realized how thirsty I was for change – both in my life and in my thinking. Once I acknowledged this, I revamped my life with the help of a life coach. I was so impressed with the coaching model that I decided to pursue life coaching as a career. Since this poem inspired a change in my life direction, I decided to name my company Damn Thirsty.

My background

My education and training have been diverse. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Health Psychology from Bastyr University. I selected this school because it is the world’s leading natural science institution and offers a holistic approach to the science of psychology. This program incorporates rigorous psychology instruction as well as courses in personality, stress and disease processes, psychotherapy, healing practices, spirituality, Ayurvedic and Oriental medicine, meditation, visualization and well-being.

In addition to my formal education, I have been involved with extensive field training. I participated in a highly selective instructional program, Martha Beck Life Coach Training. The founder, Dr. Martha Beck, has developed a strong coaching curriculum based in adult development, transformational learning and behavioral science. I was personally trained by Dr. Beck and received my life coach certification in 2007. In addition, I have been an active member of Coachville, a coaching association and training program, since 2003 and I am a registered counselor with the State of Washington.

I have been coaching clients in private practice since 2003. Prior to starting my coaching business, I worked for over 14 years with senior executives at industry-leading companies. Before entering the corporate environment, I studied Aeronautical Science and earned a private pilot license.

I can think of nothing more rewarding than helping people to design and create fulfilling lives. To further my work in this area, I volunteer weekly at Providence Hospice of Seattle.
