Frequently Asked Questions
"Wendy's coaching is always thoughtful and actionable." — John |
How is coaching different from therapy? Most therapy is focused on finding the cause of a feeling or behavior and this usually involves investigating the past. Coaching is focused on the future; however, it can also help to change attitudes resulting from past experiences. Put simply, therapy resolves issues whereas coaching focuses on creating your future. It is my objective to help you recognize the life you were meant to live and provide the tools to keep you on that path. What are the outcomes of coaching?
What should I expect? As a coach, I am here to inquire, encourage, challenge, listen and make honest appraisals so that you can see what you want to do. Giving you advice or answers has little value. Coaching is a process that can give you your own insights and answers. We will use exercises and tools to access information needed for the deliberate and mindful creation of your finest life. I am committed to respectful communication, openness and authenticity. My complete focus will be on you and what you want in life. To ensure you get the most out of coaching, I may assign homework for you to complete between sessions. People often have questions about coaching and the impact it can have in their lives. As an introduction, I offer a complimentary consultation to discuss my coaching services and how they can support your desired changes. I meet with clients over the phone or in person at my office in West Seattle. How often will we meet? Some clients work with a coach for targeted help with a particular change or goal. Others prefer ongoing support as they navigate through life’s changes. The frequency of our meetings will be determined by your desire for change. If you are interested in generating momentum in a short period of time, weekly meetings may work best. If you are headed toward your right life and need occasional support along the way, you may prefer coaching on demand. If you aren’t sure what would work best for you, we can discuss these options. When does coaching end?Clients may work with me for as short as three months or as long as three years. I anticipate that you will end coaching when you have accomplished your goals or when you need a break. This is a part of coaching and is perfectly normal. Together we will monitor your progress and work to ensure a smooth transition into and out of coaching. |
